What is Surrogacy?
A Shared Journey of Hope, Love, and New Life
Surrogacy begins with a simple but powerful wish:
To bring a child into the world—when doing so isn’t possible alone.
At Surrogacy Bond, we believe that no one should have to let go of their dream of parenthood simply because their path looks different. Surrogacy is a remarkable way to build families, anchored in compassion, trust, and connection.
What Is Surrogacy?
Surrogacy is an arrangement where a woman (the surrogate) carries and delivers a baby for someone else—known as the intended parent(s). This can happen for a number of reasons:
A medical condition prevents the intended mother from carrying a pregnancy
The individual or couple has struggled with infertility
LGBTQ+ couples or single parents seek to grow their family through surrogacy
At its heart, surrogacy is a shared journey. It’s not just about a baby—it’s about forming a bond between two parties who are united by purpose and love.
Two Types of Surrogacy
There are two main types of surrogacy, and Surrogacy Bond works exclusively with the more modern, medically secure approach:
1. Gestational Surrogacy
In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate carries an embryo created through IVF (in vitro fertilization) using the egg and sperm of the intended parents or donors. She has no biological connection to the child. This is the most common form of surrogacy today and is legally recognized in most U.S. states.
2. Traditional Surrogacy
Less common and more legally complex, this involves the surrogate using her own egg. Due to potential emotional and legal complications, Surrogacy Bond does not facilitate traditional surrogacy.
The Surrogacy Process: Step by Step
The surrogacy journey is built on trust, medical precision, and emotional care. Here’s how it typically unfolds at Surrogacy Bond:
Matching: We help intended parents and surrogates find the right match. This is about shared values, open communication, and emotional compatibility.
Screening: Every surrogate candidate goes through a comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation to ensure she’s fully prepared—physically, emotionally, and ethically.
Legal Agreements: Each party has legal representation. Contracts clearly outline responsibilities, financial compensation, and expectations.
Medical Preparation: The surrogate begins a hormone regimen to prepare her body for embryo transfer.
Embryo Transfer: The embryo is implanted via IVF. Once pregnancy is confirmed, prenatal care begins immediately.
Pregnancy & Birth: The surrogate carries the baby with ongoing support from both the intended parents and the agency. After delivery, the baby is united with the parents, and a lifelong bond is born.
Why Women Become Surrogates
Surrogates are driven by something bigger than themselves. Many are mothers already and deeply understand the joy of raising a child. Becoming a surrogate allows them to give the gift of parenthood to someone who otherwise wouldn’t have that chance.
They are:
Generous
Emotionally resilient
Committed to making a difference
At Surrogacy Bond, we honor surrogates as the heart of what we do. We’re committed to their well-being—offering emotional support, transparent communication, and full agency guidance from start to finish.
